Rooms with private pools
Self-catering villas and chalets with air conditioning, satellite TV, full kitchenettes (microwave, fridge), private bathrooms with bath or shower, and free toiletries. Each unit has a private deck, a splash pool, and BBQ facilities. The African Experience Villa was clean with a comfortable bed, though the kitchen cupboards could use an update. The Swazi Experience Villa looked directly into the bush, and guests saw warthogs, impalas, and springbok from the room. Mosquito repellent spray is provided.
Dining & breakfast
The lodge serves a daily breakfast buffet. On-site there are two restaurants. The breakfast was described as 'very nice' by one guest, but another noted the menu had limited availability and the waitress seemed unsure. Late arrivals for full-board meals sometimes found most of the food gone. Guests must drive to nearby restaurants for dinner as there is no evening restaurant on the property.
Activities & game drives
Guests can book game drives, self-drive day safaris, and mini golf. On-site activities include bike and hiking trails, bicycle rental, cooking classes, themed dinner nights, and walking tours. The property also has an infinity pool (open all year, shallow end), sun loungers, and an outdoor spa and wellness centre with a hot tub and sauna. The foot massage received a complaint for being unprofessional.
Location & transport
Located in Marloth Park, the lodge is 38 km from the Malelane gate of Kruger National Park and 32 km from the Lebombo Border Gate to Mozambique. Nelspruit is a 90-minute drive away, and the property is 110 km from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. Airport shuttle and pick-up/drop-off are available. The nearest Metro Station is not nearby; guests need a car to reach restaurants.
Services & housekeeping
The lodge offers daily housekeeping, a private check-in/check-out, and room service. Self-catering villas are cleaned daily. The manager, Eddie, was noted for being helpful and prompt with repairs. There is no backup electricity during loadshedding; the generator was only turned on for some guests.
